Antakya is a municipality in Hatay Province, Turkey. It is also the area that was most affected by the February 2023 earthquake. According to the mayor Lütfü Savaş, 90% of the population had to relocate elsewhere due to the earthquake, and 92% of the district had to be rebuilt. When a place is destroyed, the population relocates. What is left of that place is how it is represented, and how it exists in the collective memory of the people who resided there. Art contains valuable information and shows which aspects of a place are brought forth by the people who make it. Other forms of representation also contain this information, which include, but are not limited to, poetry, postcards, and television series. Through examining these forms of representation, I identified places of memory that exist in them to create a collage that shows how Antakya is presented in various forms of representation.
