Imagination is the first step in creating any form of change in this world. We are taught to widen our imaginations as children through children’s books that reinforce new ways of seeing, as well as imagining new worlds. If we could help develop these imaginations into adulthood this would aid us in creating a world that is more sustainable since current structures in place do not work. The status quo acts as a totality and the horizon of our imaginations only reach that far. People often undermine the importance of art, viewing fields that are more tangible and scientific as superior. Though the sciences are important, without art, design, and aesthetics, it is not possible to visualize what a different world would look like. This collage examines the relationship between children’s books, land art, and imagining new worlds which are crucial to finding and implementing solutions to issues that derive from the climate crisis.
